Watiya Tjuta relates to the wooden objects used by aboriginal
men: in particular, the the making of spears. The straightening
of spears is a theme frequently painted by Mitjilli's brother
Turkey Tolson.
The country where the trees are found is the uwalki - Mitjili's
father's country. Mitjili's mother, drew images in the sand
of uwalki, taught her fathers dreaming. In the centre of the
painting is depicted the Irantji Range to Mikarnta Waterhole.
This country near the Kintore Ranges, west of Haast Bluff
is rich in bush food, with plenty of native grass seeds for
bush damper, as well as animals such as bush turkey and kangaroos.
